We live in an era when we have apps and gadgets to fill every gap in our lives. If you run into problems, you can download the solution or buy it with the click of a mouse. Perhaps it is that modern way of thinking that many of us come to think that hair loss can be addressed in the same way. Our immediate response to hair loss and thinning is to go online and look for new shampoos, better conditioners and voluminous hairsprays.

The truth is, there is no “magic bullet” product that easily solves the problem of hair loss and thinning. Good quality hair care products will definitely help, but they are not a substitute for understanding the root cause of hair loss. Often it can be a lifestyle issue. More specifically, it may be directly related to the food you choose to eat. Read on to discover how your diet affects your hair, good or bad!

    Reason for hair loss

Many factors are involved in hair loss. These include genetics, general health, age, hair care habits (including styling, tools and products), and diet. In recent years, various studies have investigated the relationship between malnutrition and hair loss. You can see one such study here.

An interesting thing that emerges from this series of studies is that nutrient deficiency is not just about not getting enough vitamins, proteins and minerals. Often it can result from getting many of them. For example, vitamin A is important for cell growth, immune function, and vision. However, too much of it can lead to the toxicity of vitamin A, which is known to cause hair loss.

Similarly, the trace element selenium is an essential nutrient for many of our cellular functions. However, overdose can cause symptoms such as bad breath, malaise, nervousness, and hair loss.

It should be emphasized that most toxic cases are caused by the use of supplements rather than overeating. It reminds us of the importance of seeking medical advice before embarking on a supplement course.

    Food to eat

More commonly, hair loss occurs when an individual does not get enough of the nutrients needed to maintain healthy hair. Studies have shown that, for example, deficiencies in vitamins B12 and D, biotin, riboflavin, and iron are associated with hair loss.

Most of us don’t have the habit of scrutinizing food labels while standing in a supermarket, so the best way to get enough of these micronutrients is to eat the right food. Here is a short list of some of the things we should eat on a regular basis. It is by no means exclusive.

    • egg It is rich in minerals, proteins and B vitamins. These nutrients stimulate hair growth and help protect the roots of the hair. Egg yolks are also an excellent source of biotin, which greatly improves rock elasticity.
    • meat Protein is also believed to help strengthen and repair your hair. Lean meat is rich in iron, an essential mineral for red blood cells that carry oxygen and nutrients to the scalp. Iron deficiency is thought to be one of the causes of hair loss.
    • fish Mackerel, salmon, herring, etc. have long been promoted for the benefit of our minds and general health. This is due, not a little, to the high content of omega 3 fatty acids. Not only is this good for heart health, but some studies have associated it with reduced hair loss, but there is still no conclusive evidence.
    • Avocado Actively bouncing with healthy fat. Average-sized avocados also provide up to 28% of an individual’s daily vitamin E requirements. Vitamin E’s antioxidant properties protect the scalp from free radical damage and oxidative stress, reducing hair loss due to poor quality hair and damaged hair follicles.
    • Nuts, seeds, beans A great source of zinc. They also provide B and E vitamins, fatty acids and selenium. Lack of these nutrients is associated with hair loss. Eating a wide variety of nuts, seeds and beans should ensure that you have enough nutrients to prevent this. Apart from that, they offer delicious treats and meals!

Forgive me for puns, I hope this article provides you with a source of thought! Good nutrition is a very important factor for our general health, so it is natural to discover that it is also essential for our hair condition. Eating the right foods supports strong and healthy hair growth. Before you start looking for a magic bullet hair product, get it right first!
